Dearborn-based automaker Ford is to announce its partnership with West Coast Edison International Electric Company. The partnership will focus on paving the way for the new generation of plug-in hybrid vehicles.
The partnership between Both companies will mark the first that the working relationship between a car manufacturer and a company like Edison will be made in order to promote the production of vehicles environmentally. The two companies would jointly announce toady their working relationship.
Plug-in hybrid vehicles are considered as one of the most promising technologies for alternative fuel today. A plug-in hybrid vehicle or a PHEV is essentially a vehicle hybrid like the Toyota Prius, but with a plug-in sense of its capacity battery can be recharged by plugging the car into a wall.
Batteries used by PHEVs should be more powerful than those currently used in hybrids. Because hybrid vehicles batteries must be designed to be powered over long distances by electric power only. The result of the reduction of fuel consumption which reduces the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere.
The partnership between Ford and Edison is supposed focus on the study of how the plug-in hybrid of the future will happen in the real world. The joint venture will also explore how the presence of numerous plug-in hybrids will have an impact on the grid. With millions of homes connected to the network, the demand is already huge. With the introduction millions of other plug-in hybrids in the future, demand is increasing, therefore a solution must be found.
Ford to be reduce cost of production of plug-in hybrid vehicles. To date, apart from issues surrounding the battery will be best suited for applications Motor, another issue which makes the mass production of PHEVs is not the cost.
